How do I request a prescription refill? How do I know when it is ready for pickup?

Requesting a prescription refill is done through your AdvancedMD Patient Portal. Account holders can request a refill for either a ‘Current’ or ‘Historical’ prescription using the ‘Request a Medication Refill’ tab while logged into the Patient Portal. Once a refill is completed, the account holder will receive a confirmation message through the Patient Portal from the Medical Assistant who filled the prescription. It is important for the account holder to contact their pharmacy to ensure the refill is ready for pickup. Please note: A prescription needs to be processed through the pharmacy to know whether a prior authorization is needed or not. Be aware that this could cause a delay in receiving your medication.

What is the typical turnaround time for a prescription refill?

Our team works hard to ensure submitted refills are processed within 72 hours, but it is extremely important for families to request refills for patients 5-7 business days before the prescription is due. This way, the pharmacy has adequate time to refill the prescription and respond to insurance inquiries thereby reducing the risk of a patient running out of medication. Providing the highest quality patient care is our priority. If you have any questions or concerns along the way, please reach out to our care team through your patient portal. Messages are monitored daily, on a regular basis, and it is the most efficient and private way to communicate with us.
